How I Work
In translating between languages, and occasionally between time periods, my goal is to preserve as much of the authentic text and context as possible while making the result accessible for an English-speaking international audience.
In my literary translations, I want the reader to feel immersed in another culture, like they’ve been afforded a rare glimpse into a world slightly different from their own, yet similar in its humanity.
In my social science and policy translations, I draw on my own direct professional and academic experience in preparing the same kinds of texts that I now translate and edit – academic articles, policy papers, reports, etc. Unlike AI or an agency translator, I understand from first-hand experience how these texts are prepared and what they need to accomplish.
